Matco’s Long Distance Moving Process

No long distance move is identical. There are varying requirements and timelines involved in every move. Here is an overview of Matco’s long distance moving process:

1. Estimate

At Matco, our goal is to provide accurate estimates so there are no unnecessary surprises throughout the local moving process. To meet that goal, we offer free in-home site visits or virtual surveys. Matco’s specialized team of skilled estimators will need to see how big your space is, what kind of items you have, how much you want to move and the type of local moving services you will require for a successful move.

2. Planning

Once our moving team has established the list of items you want to move and the total weight, we will provide you with an estimate. From here, we will start reviewing potential service dates, and any additional steps you may need to take before moving day.

3. Packing

Matco Moving Solutions offers a variety of packing services. We offer full or partial packing or can leave it in your hands and supply you with packing materials to get the job done.

4. Loading

Once everything is all packed into boxes, our Kitchener local movers will arrive at your home with furniture moving pads, materials, floor runners and door jams to protect your belongings and residence. From here, we will load everything onto the moving truck and start loading your belongings. We will protect all your furniture with pads and disassemble any tables, beds or large furniture pieces that won’t fit through a standard door.

5. Transportation

Once all your belongings are loaded onto Matco’s truck, we’ll transport it safely to your new home.

6. Delivery

Matco provided a move out and our move in after storing our furniture and items for a week. Not only did they do that, they provided us with details to take care of before and after our move (like changes of address to a list of services we use on a regular basis. What to expect regarding Matco's COVID staff and truck/trailer protocols and their expectations of us during our move and COVID. As well a time-line of what to do before we moved. They were helpful before we actually signed our contract. Above all - we recommend the Matco company and crew on making our move far less stressful after being in our family home for 47 years. We were moving to Portugal from Canada. I found Matco from the Canadian Movers Association.Rob was the first point of contact, he was awesome, providing us with much needed information. Helping us find the best way to move our stuff.Lorraine came and did an inventory for us, turns out we have twice more weight than other companies quoted without the physical inventory but with a paper inventory, so the quote wouldn’t be much different from the final price. We don’t like surprises.Then Melanie became our International Coordinator and she was so very helpful! Didn’t complain about my daily calls and emails as stuff came up.Kelvin, Johnny, Alex and Lee wrapped our possessions with care, they kept everything organized and kept us laughing!We were confident that the rest of the move would be as seamless. Melanie kept us up dated on our container and it arrived as she predicted. Unfortunately once our container got to Lisbon, customer service by the receiver was horrible but Melanie was there for us and dealt with them even over the Thanksgiving weekend!We are very thankful we chose Matco to help us with our huge project!

Matco has moved for us on several occasions (province to province and local) and we are happy with their service. From booking with Lorraine to working with the workers on moving day everyone has been respectful and friendly. The quote that Lorraine provided us was close to the actual amount (always nice to find out we can pay less) and she was upfront with all the charges (which is always appreciated). The workers never broke any furniture and arrived on time and were polite. Also did a great job wrapping furnitures and mattresses. We had some slight damages to the walls and Nicole from the claims department was a delight to work with. We would be happy to recommend Matco.

My family and I have relocated three times in the past 17 years and all three moves have been with Matco.Two of these moves were very long distance and posed some unique logistical challenges. We relocated from Cold Lake, Alberta to Norman Wells, NWT and then from Norman Wells to Fort McMurray, Alberta. These moves involved not only transport by truck but also via barge, up and down the great Mackenzie river. Matco was born in the North and handled these moves with ease and took great care of our possessions.Our third and most recent relocation was from Fort McMurray to St. Albert. This move was not as logistically challenging as the first two but none the less, very important to us. We were again very pleased by the professional employees that Matco assigned to our move. Starting with the packing crew, who carefully packed everything with great care, followed by the load and off load team. Everything arrived to our new home in St. Albert, on time and in the same condition as it was in Fort McMurray. Matco made our office move as stress-free as was possible. They were able to reschedule the date for us when an unexpected technical problem occurred; their personnel were polite and professional; no items were damaged; the communication was excellent; and the team was amazingly fast. We had expected the process to take the entire day, however Matco personnel had everything moved, assembled, and in place by noon. They even double-checked with every staff member before leaving to ensure that all was well. We would, and will, recommend them to anyone contemplating a move.

I've used Matco for one commercial and two residential moves. They're terrific! For all three they offered same day service, and they got the job done without any issues. I know every business says that their employees are courteous, but Matco really means it. I never thought I'd see a day where a mover impressed my elderly mother with his appreciation for classical music.
